Useful Credit Card Reviews

Credit card reviewswill often tell you more than a credit card company will about the terms of their loans. Ask anyone who has ever received a credit card statement, or viewed a credit card provider’s webpage if they understood more that 50% of what was written. Sure the offers come in easy to understand words, but it’s the fine print that will get you in the end. The most honest credit repair would be from disinterested parties, or those that will not suffer nor benefit from a credit card provider’s business. But, although these credit card reviews are honest, and well-meant, they can come from personal experiences, and may be biased. They can also be from a minor number of credit card holders or people who did not understand what they were signing up for. They will likely not touch on the aspects that are pertinent to you, either. There are credit card reviews from parties that have a vested interest in giving out credit cards, and these must not be ignored completely either, because these kinds of review can give you the information on a credit card provider that you are looking for. It also doesn’t necessarily mean they would be lying to you. Some facts may be glossed over, so learn to read between the lines. A good credit card review will be a write up that will not just overwhelm you with offers from credit card companies, or sob stories from people who feel that they have been taken advantage of. Here are a few things that you should look for in a credit card review: 1) Interest rates- look for reviews that will state how much, a clear explanation of how they are computed, and from what date does you loan start earning interests. Also what kind of interest computation is applicable (compound or simple). 2) Finance Charges- what are included in the term “finance charges”, what the rates are, and when do they become applicable. 3) Billing Periods- a write up that will lay out to you if a provider has a “double billing period” (when the due date for the principal amount is different for the minimum payment date) is also very helpful. 4) Late Payment Fees- again, the rates and applicability (when and how) 5) Minimum Payment Due- also the rates, and perhaps some opinion on how to make this option work for you. The usual minimum is 1 or 2% of the principal debt plus finance charges. 6) Offers such as cash back, rebates, and discounts- plus the terms and conditions on exactly how you will be able to avail of these offers (such as if you have to buy $200 worth of goods at a certain store in a specified time to get a $20 rebate, etc.) The more you read about credit cards, no matter if they are conflicting, the better it would be for you. Getting a credit card may offer a convenience now, but it is something that can haunt you for the rest of your life.
